I leave for Guatemala on Thursday on my latest adventure. I volunteered to work with this organization in Jocotenango near Antigua. Here is their website: http://www.ebsguatemala.org/ I will stay three weeks, returning to the US on June 30th. I don't know what "work" I will do but I told them I can wash dishes, cook, teach English, clean the building, play. I think they are a school that has around 100 students from poor families. I will be staying with a Guatemalan family and will "work" Monday through Friday with weekends libre.
When I was in Guatemala in 2011 (last time I was there) it was the last days of my trip and I was bored so I coincidentally went to Jocotenango for an Easter
celebration they were having. It is a short bus ride from Antigua (5-8 miles or so). Then walked back to Antigua. Here are some photos I took of the Joctenango fiesta.
